its a rebranded Petzl climbing harness. You can buy the Petzl version for less. There really aren't any special features for boats except the price .

If you are getting a climbing harness, I would look at the "expedition" type - mainly something with as wide a leg strap as you can find. The narrow straps will cut into your legs fairly quickly and get uncomfortable. Look at rei.com for a sampling. $50 - $100 will get you a nice one.
