In 1975 a friend and I sailed from San Filepe to Bahia De Los Angeles on my Hobie 16

Fun trip along the Sea of Cortez on the Baja side. It took us 6 days (350 miles).

My friend and I had someone drive my van with the Hobie 16 on the roof to San Filepe at the north end of Baja, put her in the water and sailed her south. We had three waterproof bags along the front of the tramp. One for his stuff, one for mine and one for food. We tied a one gallon containers of water to each stanchion of the hulls and had a gallon of tequila along for recreation. We just took off, sleeping on the beach at night and sailing during the day. We had one day when there were so many dolphin around us we became freaked out. They were darting around and between the hulls hitting the tramp. Must have been hundreds of them.

Favorite spot was Gonzaga Bay. I think that 'Joint Venture' spent some time there and helped build a house. Gonzaga bay was great.. At that time it was a small fishing village that had a number of homes owned by pilots from 'PSA' (Pacific Southwest Airlines). Had a wonderful time there. One of the pilots took us up and flew us south to view the terrain and brought us back.

When we got to the Bay of LA we slept in an abandoned ice cream truck on the beach till my friends wife picked us up 2 days later with my van.

I believe it was my all time favorite cruising adventure. I should find some of the old photos just to look at them again.
