Having survived a Category 4 hurricane (and a Cat 2 also) on a CQR, I am sticking with it.
The tests "proving" that the current generation are five times better then the CQR etc look suspect to me.
I am old enough to remember when the Bruce was the "new generation" and look what has happened to its reputation.
One thing is for sure. It will take a h!@# of a lot more load to bend the drop forged shank on our CQR that to bend the flatbar shank on the anchor in your photo.
The welding fabrication work in a Manson, Roca or similar is relatively simple, so the only reason I can see for the price is that there is a huge margin, and/or huge marketing budget to create the hype.
