My yard has dircted that all headsails be struck

at least that was the impression I got this morning when I was removing my dorades and replacing them with the deck plates that hadn't seen the light of day in 10 years. I am in a real hurricane hole in Glen Cove in western Long Island Sound and really thought wrapping the spinnaker halyard around the head sail and putting a screw driver through two holes in the furling gear would be OK. It a humid but sunny day down here and I was having a water in the cockpit when the rigger passed by in the work boat ferrying boats to the travel lift. Looking up at my rig he says "that's not going to do, Doug. I will be right there." A few minutes latter he descends on y boat and the sail comes down, is folded and he leaves. I did not have a chance to say, "Hey, I can do it."
Of course I have a nice relationship with the yard and the workers and I like to think I am more than a customer. Brewers Glen Cove has always treated me right. Good luck to everyone!
