I should have led the storm pendant through the mooring line opening in the bow fitting instead of through the chock. It would have had a much more fair lead and not have torn up the chafing gear. It might have fused itself inside, of course! My bad and with good furtune it survived. (The usual mooring line remained as backup.) In any case, I would have planned on making a new storm pendant after the stretch cycles this went through. The mooring line has a long length of Taylor (nee Perimiter) polyester chafing guard, rated poorly by PS. This one has withstood rubbing against the (here removed) Delta anchor for three seasons. The top-rated stuff must be really good!
