To head south, the Chambly only gets you to Lake Champlain. The Champlain canal stands between there and the Hudson.

CHAMPLAIN CANAL - LOCK C-1 TO C-7 CLOSURE
Mariners are advised that the Champlain Canal from Lock C-1 (Waterford) to Lock C-7 (Fort Edward) as well as Lock C-12 (Whitehall) is closed due to high water levels until further notice.
