I took a long weekend off to hang out down at the boat, turns out it was a lot quieter then I expected. Of the 160 slips, there were three cars in the lot. VERY unusual for a sunny and warm Friday. Seems that Labor Day was like flipping a switch around here this year. Everyone seems to just be done with the season. April, May and June were very cold and rainy, record breakers in fact. July and August were dry, but temps were so hot it was like sitting in a greenhouse on the boat. Opening all the ports and hatches, turning on all the fans meant the temp down below dropped from 100* to 95*, no fun at all. Then we had Irene and Lee to deal with, two more weeks of rain, wind and small craft warnings.
Boats are coming out of the water fast and furious all around us. Saturday was our first day of hauling out for the season, about 10 boats came out, another 10 were scheduled for yesterday and today but we are back into the cold and rain. It's now supposed to rain every day as far out as they are forecasting with temps dropping a little more each day. Normally this is prime sailing weather with nice temps in the 70's, blue skies and perfect wind. The summer boaters from out of town are gone so the traffic on the water is wayyyy lighter. Looks like we are done as well, I was hoping for one more weekend. Sails off on the 30th, mast down on the first, hauled on the 8th.
