When we purchased our Gulfstar we had 90 days to get it out of Florida or they would assess a sales tax. We left having never had a shakedown. In reality we were only going 150 miles to Nassau.

Unless you'll be on the Moon (generalization) you really don't need a shakedown. Just go and figure it out once you've left home port.
