Sent an e-mail, stating that I would be keeping the BBQ but needed a manual as it was not in the box, and also gave them a FYI about the Household note and some non-ss material, about noon yesterday and about 2 hours later had this response.

I saw your e-mail to the Customer Service Department and I saw your posting on the SailboatOwners.com forum.

Let me start by introducing myself. I am the Owner of Defender and thank you for your business. I see you’ve been with us for a while and your patronage is very much appreciated.

I fully recognize your comment below and on the forum regarding a “marine” BBQ being sold with a warning prominently on the box stating otherwise. This is something I am seeing more frequently on many products and the answers from the Manufacturers vary from the logical to the inane. If I had to distill it down, I would say the attorneys are driving the labeling. Last week I got into it with a Manufacturer that told me that the degradation of an inflatable boat was not covered under warranty, because it specifically states in the Owner’s Manual that the boat is not to be left in the sun (I could not believe my ears, but in the end they agreed to honor the warranty).

As for the pieces of the grill that are not stainless, I do not have an answer. Maybe Kuuma has a reason, but I’d have to ask. You will likely receive a response from my Customer Service Department as well and I will have them ask Kuuma for an “official” response from their technical staff on that matter.

If you want to return the grill, of course you can. I’d make you whole on the shipping out and back.
