Lasdrop leak problem solved

I called Lasdrop today and told them of the problem. They said that the installer probably didn't use the included alignment tool. (there is an alignment piece of plastic that spreads the rubber on the secondary seal that revolves with the shaft.) You put it in the second piece to spread the rubber so it slides onto the shaft without folding back on itself.

I went to Hinckley today and talked to the installer. He didn't use it. so,,,, the rubber on the secondary seal is folded back much like the band on a hat can do. Hinckley was good about the problem and we were scheduled to haul out on Wednesday but,,,,,,, I was told by Lasdrop that it would be good to put in new rubber seals ($4.00) or free from them. Problem is they are out of stock at the moment and they will be in on Thursday. They said whenever the seal leaks that's the cause and,,, I don't have to replace them but it's suggested. They also said it will probably be ok.

What to do?????? If I wait for them to get back in stock I'll be here in Stuart another week. If I don't replace the seal and haul the boat I'm sure Hinckley won't pay for another haul if it leaks. Chances are it will be fine but there are no guarantees. Lasdrop said they will send me new seals to keep on hand for the next time the boat is hauled if I want to take the chance. Again, they said it will probably be fine but they can't guarantee it.

I hate this.

Excuse me for saying this but Fuck!

Any thought from the board?
