I've kept pretty good track of what I've spent.

Yeah, I hear that Gene. Looking at the total, it's pretty scary. But I bought the boat at a price figuring that nothing worked and I'd be servicing or replacing everything. The engines only have 2500 hours on them and they fired up in seconds, amazing when you consider they hadn't been run in 20 years and the fuel lines were stuck in a jerry can of 20 year old diesel. The 7.5 KW generator only took a bit of coaxing to run, and the big 15 KW didn't need much. The naiad stabilizers, washer/dryer, trash compactor, ice maker, all work. So I was able to splurge on stuff like the electronics.

While the money spigot is flowing pretty good, I rationalize by considering that I live on it, saving myself about $18,000 in rent while spending only $6,500 in dock fees. I have no loan on the boat and my savings are funding the restoration of it. The nice thing is that we can cruise south on it while we do it, fulfilling a life long dream. I miss my job at Dutchman and Pam misses working at a vet's office but we're having a ball, even considering all the "adventures" we've had. It's been worth every penny.
