I have them ...

I'm very happy so far, they are the 9" round, I paid about $200 for them 4 years ago. They're mounted on the back side of my lazerette in the cockpit, so they get plenty of salt-water spray, whenever we wash the boat down, they get wet, and they'll get wet when it rains, the Bimini doesn't keep them dry. No problems so far, sound is still great. You can see the stbd one in the photo, another on the port side.

So I guess they are indeed waterproof. If they failed next year and I got 5 years out of them I'd probably be satisfied, they get plenty wet. I used to have another pair of speakers there with Beckson covers like you I'd take on & off, but I don't cover the new Polys. I suppose if we got pooped and the cockpit filled up with water, I might be in trouble, but if that's going to happen, I'd probably chose not to be out there in the first place.

FWIW, I have a pair of BOSE 151 speakers in the Saloon, they don't get wet.

Cheers, John

And PS ... no, that's not a crapper in the cockpit, nice idea though, it's a propane locker
