Greetings from Chacala, just north of Banderas Bay.

While heading for San Blas about 15 miles south of Mazatlan, I spotted this sad sight not far off our course. At a distance, I took it for an orange life raft with canopy. Closer, I feared it was an overturned panga. As you can see, the whale.. apparently a male... had become entangled in a fishing net. We heard a report on a morning net that one of the other cruisers had freed a couple whales a day or two earlier. I'm not sure I'd have the courage to do that.
