I am in the process of restoring my S-L 555 windlass to proper operating condition. I noticed when I removed the access plate to the gear train that there was a large amount of extremely stiff grease in the gear cavity. I need to know what is the proper grease to use in the gear case and should the case be completely filled with the grease?
