It seems like some enterprising folks could organize an operation to get people aboard some of these vessels, especially ones like this one abandoned not all that far from land, and repair them enough to get them back to port. I have no idea the salvage rights and realize it isn't the easiest thing to find an abandoned boat on the high seas, but presumably you could get a position from the rescuers and estimate its drift.

I keep thinking about the J40 - something that washed ashore on Barbados; seems like such a waste of a beautiful boat.

I realize all this is easier said than done.
