There was a pulling boat out on Belfast Harbor yesterday.

Maybe the local high school team. It was a nice day to see what's going on in Belfast. No doubt the harbor will see more boat traffic in the future. I checked out Front Street Shipyard, the new facility in town. It's big! They've hired 50 full time employees so far, and are looking for more. Business looks brisk. For those that have never been here, Belfast is a harbor town at the head of Penobscot Bay. Nice old buildings line the street, there were quite a few pedestrians considering how quiet it is everywhere in small towns along the coast of Maine this time of year. The recession has been hard everywhere. It was good to see people out walking the streets. Belfast has strong community spirit, you feel it when you're there. The local food Co-op is a typical example of that community collaboration, and a great place to buy local foods. Nostalgic form of social media posted outside the Co-op.
