Just read your blog to see you're there. Are you at the marina inside a man made jetty (I can't remember the name, Ashley)?

I'm wondering what other marinas are available right there and also, what is the state of the anchorage between that marina and the Coast Guard base? We anchored there for more than a week years ago. It was well protected but had some current you had to deal with in swinging. Any boats in there now?

Great photos on your blog. I love the buildings in Charleston and the way tiny gardens and entranceways extend to the street between buildings. Interesting combination of outdoor/indoor space use down there.

Why don't you look into pulling the steering out of the Whaler for now, and buy and extension for the outboard tiller(what do you call those things on outboards anyway?) Cost less than one nights dockage and the anchorage as I recall was very pleasant.
