That seems a rather weird orientation for a stabilizer...

...although, all these yachts have Zero-Speed stabilizers - for use at anchor, etc. - so perhaps that pic doesn't necessarily indicate a failure... Still, that would be my first guess, the "mechanical failure" the news reports allude to, being one involving stabilizers...

Interesting, this post I came across... A gentleman from Turkey says he saw YOGI back in the shipyard after her construction, and stabilizers were being ADDED at that time... Hmmmm...

I recall reading one of the last interviews Olin Stephens gave before his death... One of the things he mentioned, was what he thought was a very bad trend in current large yacht design, and that these boats have become all about their superstructures...
