That was my take on things, implied safety

I am not always as suspicious as I should be, but I felt the sellers of these boats were implying something that is not true, as Gene pointed out no inspection is required. Frankly, the boats being offered for sale would likely never see a more foreign shore than possibly Canada. As far as financing, I would be suprised that any financial institution would pony up a dollar towards purchase based on the size and age. Insurance companies are likely to be asking for surveys or certificatres of seaworthiness, but documentation won't help with either.
