I don't think you NEED to get fuel ...

... maybe you do, not sure ? I always do because we have not been lucky enough to sail the entire way from Vero to Lyford and we have a smallish tank. There is a very well marked channel coming in, maybe it's a mile long, at least a half mile. We come right in with the big boat and tie to the fuel dock. I call ahead an hour or so, tell them we're coming for fuel and clear-in ... could they please call the Customs & Immigration folks. Some times they are there waiting for us. It all happens quickly, or at least it used to. I sit there with Customs right next to the boat. We are there usually for less than 2 hours, although once we had to wait a few hours ... fuel, clear-in, wash the boat and water if we need it. Then we go right back out and on to the Exumas. Not sure if you can spend the night at Lyford, we never have.

We are a dark hull Tartan 40 hails Ketchum, Idaho ... ASOLARE.
