is that the manufacturer could file for Chapter 11. Friends of mine - newlyweds at the time - put their life savings into buying a new Westsail 32. When Westail went belly up, they had to scramble just to get their fully paid for but largely incomplete boat out of the yard. Even if a manufacturer has been in business a long time and has an excellent reputation, it can go bankrupt and then the buyers can be screwed.

- They're still going strong (?) with sailboats. Just not powerboats.
  - I read that too. Strange...the opposite seems more often to be the case.
    - Like Florida is the opposide of Maine?

  - Yes but there are legal ways to secure it from the maker's creditors
    - AND....the boat may not be much completed at the time.
      - Yup.
  - We were looking at a Saga. Bankrupt!
