The spar on this Hinckley SW42 is a coveted bird perch in my harbor. Everybody loves a Hinckley, but it must be more than that. This bird magnet has a lot of attractive perch area. The National Wildlife service couldn't do a better design than the radome, the wide spreaders are the perfect shape for big talons, and the mast top is a big large, high, coveted flat for the many appliances that can be fitted to it. It must be exasperating as big birds like Ospreys pick this out of the harbor forest below, and park on it to mackerel fish through the summer.
This could work, SS nails pushed through heavy rigging tape. The mine field is stuck down on all horizontal surfaces, of which there is plenty. But Raytheon could do better, so could the mast builder. Any other good ideas?
