So I was glancing over at a different cruising forum, and there was a discussion on which clock to use for CN... basically they narrowed down to any digital watch, as long as you could receive WWV and the time tick, then you would be all set.

Well that seems to me to still be rather reliant on "technology" still. Sure perhaps the GPS sats fail for some reason, but what if there is a bigger reason, and the WWV time tick is not available... what manual timepiece would you use... and how would you calibrate it, if you didn't have access to WWV?
