First learn Celestial Navigation

If you know where you are and not moving, you can set the watch from the local noon hour using Celestial Navigation.
If you do not know you Position but you know the location of were you are going. Sail north or south until a noon site give you the latitude that your destination location is on and then sail on that latitude until you run into it.
I am trying to remember but I think that 4 seconds of time is an mile error and normally you can see something at 8 miles.
If you are only a couple days from the coast set in a compass error so when you hit the coast you know which way to turn.
if it an island aim for it and look for a cloud over it, the land mass will normally cause a cloud.
