Was just wandering around the net and saw a couple of ideas that seemed to go together with some postings that were done a few weeks ago.
The postings I remember were about 12 volt TVs. I think they all come with a HDMI in port.
First I saw a note at engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/09/linux-lands-on-mk802-mini-pc/) about a US $74.00 mini PC computer. It's about the size of a thumb drive! It can run Ubuntu 10.04. It can use a monitor or any device with an HDMI for showing things.
Next I was looking at OpenCPN for a friend who is Fiji and having a problem downloading. In the OpenCPN download site I see a; Download OpenCPN 3.0.0 for 32 bit *Ubuntu 12.04 (or 64 bit).
If this works, and you use it, it makes a low cost navigation system!
Just a thought.
