My suggestions ...

Three places to leave the boat in the Bahamas and feel good about it ...

Georgetown, Exuma > Bob Cronin at Kevali House in Hole #3
Nick & Carolyn Wardle's dock/quay in Coral Harbour (SW end of New Providence)
Edwin's Boat Yard in Man-O-War Cay, Abacos

There are numerous other places & marinas, but for safety & personal attention, lack of theft, cost, accessibility by airport/travel, water flow (keep your bottom clean), access to provisions, and overall protection, these are the best I have found. Happy to discuss in more detail ...

I would not be afraid of the Bahamas with 6.5 draft. We cruise with friends who live there who have 7' who have no problems, and as long as you pay attention to the tide, you will be able to do most anything. Not everything, but most everything.

The only charts to have are the Explorer Charts. Without these, you are asking for trouble. I have paper and electronic Explorer. The paper charts have all the cruising guide info you need. For more, I recommend Pavlidis's books > Out Islands and Exumas. If you go to Abaco, get Steve Dodge's Guide.

Coming north of T&C, here is what I would do ...

Mayaguana & the Plana Cays
Samana Cay
DEFINITELY Crooked & Acklins ... depending on the time of year, protection can be an issue here, but you can find the right protection for just about anything as long as you are willing to move around
DEFINITELY Conception Island
If this is your first time in the Bahamas ... continue north through the Exuma Chain, starting at Georgetown. I like Eleuthera and Cat Island, but you won't be able to do these and Exumas without going back & forth
From there, the trip is probably over. Some really like the Abacos, we've been there many times, in my opinion, it's more like South Beach or Lauderdale than the Out Islands of the Bahamas. But if that's what you like, put it on the itinerary. I really like the Raggeds, but perhaps save that for another year, sort of out of the way, and with your draft, "iffy" getting to and from via Exuma.

You can easily spend 3 months doing what I described above, moving around every few days and still not do everything you want ...

Cheers, John
