Most of the local boats are in but it isn't until the "4th" that transient boats begin to arrive in this cruising area. I ask at local docks and the story is the same, "not much going on yet". And it's the same on mainstreet anywhere. The tourists from areas to the south don't arrive in droves until after the 4th.
So I wonder what kind of a season we're in for? We shared the archipelago anchorage formed by Camp, Hells and Bold islands with 6 other boats last weekend. I'd guess all were local but I wasn't close enough to anyone to read their haling port. I think I saw 2 boats travel the Deer Island thoroughfare during our overnight and morning. That's like the watery Rt 1 for cruisers from down south heading downeast.
It was sunday morning when I took this photo. The quiet was deafening from dawn until about 10 am. Then I heard the first motor of the day go by(the lobstermen take sunday off here), and the sun began to churn out a breeze.
