The fixed mount shots and my head-mounted shots are with a GoPro Hero, the rest are with a cheap, several year old Kodak (i.e. I didn't mind if it got ruined). I actually had a lot of problems with the cameras, mostly due to user error. First the GoPro is tricky since you can't see what you are filming. That resulted in several shots cut-off in weird places, missing some of the action. I had a lot of issues with the batteries too. Several times, even with 3 batteries, I would end up with 3 dead batteries as they would lose their charge in a matter of days without even being used. It is possible this was due to all the batteries being new as it seemed that with use they lasted longer and held a charge better. Then, I had issues with the GoPro fogging up right in front of the lens. Arriving into Porto the very large memory card in the GoPro filled up, and then the Kodak battery ran down, so we didn't actually get video of our arrival. Finally, the Kodak had issues with the sunlight sometimes and put some weird coloration or streaking into the shots. Like I said, mostly user error. Having the experience now and after reviewing 8 hours of video I would love for the chance to go back and reshoot a bunch of the video. Ah well, it is what it is. I've got another Nikon SLR digital that I might try next time as the primary. I suspect that will provide better quality than the Kodak.
