Couple of docs here just installed a Profurl main furling system (in-the-boom type) on a Bristol 40 yawl. I'll be seeing one of hem (in his professional capacity, I hate to say) this week, and might be able to ask him a couple of questions about how it's working out for them.
They fitted it for "old-guy" reasons . . . and they had an opportunity because the boatyard had to replace the mast it damaged at haulout last year.
A few years ago, I did an article for Cruising World about the various systems that were on the market then. Some of the owners I spoke to fitted in-boom furlers to get in a few more years of sailing . . takes some (but not all) of the muscle work out of handling the mainsail.
