Thanks for that info. Do you use a flexible transmission?
I had a lot of problems with the old transmission in 2001, just before heading overseas. Florida Transmission tried and failed 3x to fix the leaks, and we finally replaced the tranny with a new one. I've had two friends who had to airfreight transmissions overseas (although neither was a Hurth) at considerable cost. Hence my reluctance not to have a spare when we head overseas again. It costs about $1700 to rebuild the old, $2500 for a new, so it seemed to make sense to swap now and keep the still-functioning one as a spare.
I do change the oil every year or 100 hours, and keep it in alignment. I'll give it some thought, maybe I will take my chances with the existing unit.
