I am typing this from the hook at Jewell Island in Casco Bay on Sat evening 10/27/12 at about 9:45 pm. We took the opportunity to get out when NO ONE ELSE WOULD BE.. (wink).. So far today we saw about 5 commercial lobster boats and our friends Tim & Kathy, here with us at Jewell. No one else on the bay.
Suffice it to say it was one of the best days of the year, despite the light winds. We hit the same fog bank you have pictured and it is due to the cold water and 63F air temps. In the bay no fog and 10 degree F warmer water, at Jewell 10F cooler and pea soup. Still a magical day.. Tomorrow I will strike the head sail and canvas and rig her for a storm on the mooring... Lots of people panicking at the boat yard today but no one came out and went sailing..... Takes me a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to prep the boat, more than enough time to do it tomorrow when we get back.... Oh and I did not hit the grocery store, Home Depot or Wal*Mart to stockpile batteries, water and milk... (grin).....
Yeee haaa, fun times, bay to ourselves... Thank you Sandra (and the media) for a peaceful weekend on Casco Bay!!!!!
