() I would think you could just pull them out, cut them off and get a thru-bolt on them?
EVERYONE travelling has to have some SS bolts, nuts, and washers. If you didn't have them handy, you could find some on the boat and "relocate" them.
Maybe an "old" boom which doesn't have as open a forward end as I generally see, but still?
