I had plans to sail the boat down to the keys and have my wife meet me. She only has 2 weeks vacation time so we wanted to make the best of it with the boat down in the keys. I had problems with the shaft and coupling coming out of the boat (the keyway was damages and the fit was loose and every time I put the boat in reverse the shaft would pull out.
I only got to west palm and had to go to a marina and rent a car and drive to miami to get her. After I got her to the boat, we had bad weather for several days. I couldn't get out of the slip between the current and the howling wind for days.
We finally got out and ran aground about 5 miles down the road and lost the first day to being aground.
After that we had much less problems, but honestly, this is all part of the adventure.
Here is a photo of the sky during one of those fronts at Riviera Beach Marina. The dockmaster was so nice. They let us stay and didn't charge the two nights stuck in the slip.
