Why didn't they scuttle it?

More likely to go South of Puerto Rico
It would be ironic if the boat got to the Caribbean before they do.
Why didn't they scuttle it?
I don't know, but in a earlier post scrambling off a broken boat may be safer than off a broken and now sinking boat.
