John D. Fruth founded Ocular Sciences Inc, a manufacturer and marketer of contact lenses, in 1985 and was CEO and Chairman of the Board from the company’s inception until 2005. Ocular was traded on the NASDQ exchange and grew to the fifth largest contact lens company in the world market.

In January 2005, Cooper Companies bought Ocular Sciences. Since January of 2005, John has served as a Director of Cooper Companies Inc. He also serves on the boards of two medical technology companies.

In 2004, John founded The Fruth Family Foundation, a foundation whose mission is working with disadvantaged children and education. A graduate of Saint John’s Prep in Minnesota, John went on to attend St. John’s University. His son, Simon Fruth, attends The Healdsburg School and his twin stepchildren Sebastian Kochinke is member of the Sonoma Academy Class of 2012 and Savannah Kochinke.
