The truck was in daily use at the time but after +120,000 miles it just crapped out taking the serpentine belt with it. On inspection the pulley looked like a fairly cheesy piece of plastic. Kind of surprised it lasted as long as it did.
When we took off for a year the car was on it's last legs but the 13 year old 86 3/4 ton Dodge I was driving still had some life left. I don't remember doing much more than parking it beside the shop, disconnecting the battery and stashing a couple boxes of d-Con under the hood to discourage the rodents from chewing on things. I must have added some stabilizer to the fuel. It started right up and worked fine when we returned home but it was a much more primitive vehicle than the cars we drive today.
