One of the best tools I use are the zillions of Vee belts I've collected over the years(owning boats will do that). With S hooks(see 2 on the far end?), I hang everything from lumber to spars from them. Cool thing here(at least for wood-boom Paul, anyway,...) is, with a large headed construction screw in each end of my boom, I can add an S hook and V belt to lower it to perfect working height.
With one hand turning, the other with a piece of 220 or a brush full of varnish, it's a breeze to build up the new varnish moving at a comfortable eye level.
When done, grasp lower belt, raise, remove the lower belt(s), loop over S hook, and it's out of the way. Sadly, it's almost over.
