But when you're a little cynical, that's good!

The only thing is see in the future is, big boats are getting bigger. That makes sense. People want faster so that means lighter. Lighter means longer new boats can be built for less cost than similar weight racer/cruisers of just yesterday.

And boats are getting bigger in the harbors. If you can afford to keep a boat at all, it seems some people are stepping up big jumps in used boats when they buy. That makes tons of sense, boats are cheaper than ever. I just saw a friend in his new (old 80's) Sabre 36, from an Ericsen 27. He couldn't pass up the deal.

But there are new ideas on the smaller side. Check out this new "design of the week" from Carl Cramer at Woodenboat. It's an exciting time in new ideas for sailboats.
