I love launch day.

It's all part of spring on the coast of Maine. My "office" window sill is blooming.

Those of us on the public landing have a two step launch. It's such a busy place with lobstermen and recreational boaters, a hydraulic trailer picks us up off jackstands and drives a hundred yards, past the boat club and the around bait trucks unloading into lobsterboat holds.

Then you get plucked off the trailer. I had to wait in line this year. RAVEN is local photographer Peter Ralstons "tripod"(as he calls it). He has a new gallery in the middle of town. Go check it out when you're in Rockport. Like here(talking to the mechanic), Peter loves to talk about Maine, photography, anything. He says his initials aren't PR for nothing.

Xmas went in without a hitch. Being that peculiar plastic boat disguised as wood, I get the typical tongue in cheek,.. "Is she swellin' up, Tom?" Routine. Low tide, I backed into the mud bank(Grounding #1 for 2013), forward throttle, lift off.

I get lost in the fabric of a boatyard in June as I waited. There's so much going on, so much to see along the water right now.

"How long will my varnish last in Maine?" As long as you want it to.
