I am in the process of replacing the running rigging and just ordered a few things to continue the project. One is a new main halyeard which I always get an eye splice on. Although I'm not totally fond of an eye splice because they can jam in the sheaves, I would rather have that than a traditional bowline. The rigger said he was at a conference in Florida where they met with other riggers from Beneteau who were now using something on their halyards called a blood knot instead of an eye splice. I did a google and found things related to fly fishing, but nothing to boat rigging. Does anyone use a blood knot on their halyards?
