Sorry my original post was a wordy meander. We want something beach-launchable by one or two people. Inflatable rollers work pretty well on this beach, but that limits the weight of what we can manage. The problem is that most family members are there for a short time, then gone. Life gets complicated when the boat's on a mooring, a hurricane is approaching, and I'm in Seattle! Quick launching an rigging is one of the goals. Going to town, getting the yacht club launch, rigging for sailing then reversing those steps was a deterrent. There are some mooring options off the beach but they're iffy when the weather blows up. So, yes, centerboard only.
Son Fred sailed on Mercury's at the yacht club sailing classes for a while. Good boats.
