Who knows? Maybe we'll go for one of these some day and put it on a mooring. Since they're heavy, beach launching isn't practical. That's our criterion for now.
We've had these discussions here before... how do you interest the next generation? Our son is a good sailor who doesn't sail much. Get him in a good rowing boat or sailboat and he loves it. He likes messing around on a boat for an hour or two at a time, not 4 hours, partly because his wife isn't much into boating.
Other inlaws will take more encouragement to get out on a boat, but I'm hopeful we can show them a path to salvation {grin}.
We have an eye on a used Penguin that needs to get a replacement centerboard and rudder faired and finished. The price is right though we haven't seen the boat. One wonders what happened to the old rudder and centerboard.
No boat is forever. Whatever used boat we try can be moved on if it doesn't work out.
Still looking for other suggestions.
