The other one that gets me is the current term for our black skinned breathren. They used to be negros, then African-Americans - not sure what the 'proper' term is now. Nothing derogatory - I nominated 'one of them' to be senior warden of our Episcopal church - and he was elected by the entire congregation!
We had a 'black' gentleman at our boatyard a while back. Drove in one morning and he's working on his teak toe rails. I wish him a 'Good Morning' and he replies that 'he's got to get a boat nigger to do this work' - his words, not mine. Tough to keep up with things..
