This is one of the things that keeps me off the streets and out of the bars all winter. All the canvas comes off the boat for mending, then the project list I made during the summer gets started. I use a portable Kenmore sewing machine although don't sew much as far as Isenglas and real heavy duty fabric. Multiple layers of Sunbrella works fine. I use the #18 canvas needle (green base color).
If you can find someone around here that will actually do the work it is likely to be seriously outrageaous for pricing and not done on time. The supply and demand are way out of line.
As far as source for material (usual disclaimer, nothing to gain, not my relatives, don't get a cut of the action). Sailrite. Their catalog is invaluable, prices are very good, shipping is prompt and selection is just amazing. They also have DIY vidoes you can purchase for the more difficult projects. I have used them for years and stringly recommend them.
