Tide was nearly high and still coming a bit when we went in, using Curtis Rindlaub's very detailed instructions (thanks Curtis!). Major pucker factor, but we got in just fine. The place is nice enough, but quite honestly, not super spectacular or anything. We decided that those three giant fans that they call wind turbines looming over the Basin kind of takes away from the beauty of the place. We tooled around a bit then decided to leave before the tide went out too much. We lined ourselves up to the narrow egress and started heading out, only to see a big old schooner trying to come in. We backed off, gave him room to enter, then picked our way out.

IMHO, the area just outside the Basin is at least as pretty, if not more so, than the Basin itself.
