We hauled for the season this past weekend. After the boat was up in the slings being pressure washed the lift operator asked me how much the boat weighed? I just assumed this was from one of the wild rumours that were flying around the club that our IP27 may exceed the lifting ability of the travel lift, or that it weighed 28,000 pounds, etc and so forth. I read in the owner's manual that the displacement was 8,000 pounds, so I told the operator it weighed 8,000 pounds. He shook his head no and said "it lifted way heavier than that". Is there a difference between displacement and actual weight of a boat??
