The Chinook. We have always referred to what are called King salmon up in B.C. as Chinook here in the river. Same fish. And we have always pronounced it as if the "ch" were "sh", a soft sound.

Heard only recently that the local tribes prefer it to be called as they do, the "ch" being hard as in "cheer". Ch'nook. I guess.
