the only problem is that sounds sound funny as my ears are inside a cloth curtain that acts to cup sound. As a result, I take off the hat in strange situations or when I go up on deck to tend to something at the mast.

But otherwise it protects well. Got it after contributing "a little something" to my local dermatologist.

Had a beard all my adult life.

I highly recommend a good hat.
