On the boat I have a oldish e120 Raymarine combo chartplotter/radar that came with the boat its at least 4 generations old and Raymarine has discontinued it but last year they offered a free updated software/firmware update that I put into the unit. Its interfaced with the AIS I put in but needed the new software to see it. I have an updated Navtronics chart. I also have a wholly independent Lenovo windows lap top that runs Coastal Explorer and its own external hockey puck GPS at the Nav Station. I do not have it interfaced to the autopilot or any boat system. I like it that way although I know some prefer to have the ability to have the boat follow routes. Its on this Laptop that I interface with Active Captain. Now with this new APP found here: https://activecaptain.com/companion I can have the Active captain on the Ipad and phone.
