With our snorkeling we'd destroy both cameras.

And after destroying both cameras there would be no place to purchase a replacement. Better to protect the Olympus Tough camera with a case and get a cheap backup for general shooting.
When we were cruising we'd snorkel and free dive every day sometimes down to 25 or even 30 feet. I don't think Olympus intended anyone to use they're Tough cameras to the spec limits the way we did.
